HULLAVINGTON 2007 – COMMENTS FROM THE OPS OFFICE
A few samples of e-mails received can be found below.
“Thank you for all your hard work & for the wonderful
day we had last Sunday. We think its one of the best ones we have
been to with such a lovely atmosphere & great fun doing the
judging.”
“I really enjoyed Hullavington yesterday, relaxed affair,
superb aeroplanes, got some good ideas on rebuilding my Wot and
met many old friends - can't get better!”
“Your 'landing' controller is very good, calm and helpful,
I meant to write last year as he was superb on the Keevil Sunday
when had engine failure to cope with too!”
“Thank you, Mr Andrews and all your helpers very much for
a tremendous day yesterday. My co-pilot and I thought it all went
very well and safely. A very nice enthusiastic crowd, you had
a tremendous turn out of aircraft and I only hope that you and
the visiting public enjoyed it as much as we did. We hope to make
it again next year. Just to say thanks for a great day yet again
and looking forward to next year.”
“Gentlemen, I have just returned from the G-VFWE and I offer
my congratulations. You must have the nicest and best organised
of all the fly-ins in the UK. ATC is the slickest and most efficient
of them all. Very well done.”
“Many thanks again for your hard work - excellent day out
!”
“To all concerned with G-VFWE.....
Thanks for a great weekend. Superbly organised with a perfect
blend of organisation and relaxation. The flying side was safe
and effective without the slightest hint of officiousness. Plenty
to see on the ground and a great selection of people to talk to.
The commentary was fantastic. A perfect balance of information
and entertainment without (as these things so often are) being
overwhelming.
Thanks again...”
“I have just got back from Hullavington. May I take this
opportunity to thank you and everyone else concerned for a truly
excellent event. Hullavington is a marvellous venue - one of the
most attractive airfields I have ever visited and in wonderful
condition. ATC were brilliant - on departure, from engine start
to takeoff took about 4 mins. Another very good turn-out. Just
about all the Austers and Chipmunks in the UK must have been there.
G-VFWE is really something special. Always a delight to fly in
and out - never any hassle or nasty moments. And a lovely atmosphere.”
“I look forward to 2008! Hopefully Air Atlantique will
be back in force - and perhaps also Percival aircraft owners -
and even the Moth club.”
“Dear Terry
Thank you so very much for inviting me to GVFW - so much appreciated.
Your support for 'Flying Scholarships for the Disabled' is so
great and I thank you for your interest and help in this way.
Please pass my thanks to all concerned - and we sold lots of books
- so GREAT
Many many thanks
Love Polly”

“Just a line to say thanks for great weekend at G-VFWE,
I flew in on all 3 days and it got better each day culminating
in a perfect Sunday, it just goes to show that given the right
wx and organization how good this event can be.”
“Dear Terry and Peter
A huge thank you to you both for making possible the attendance
of the pensioners at your show in Hullavington the weekend before
last.
Please forgive the rather belated reply but I am leaving Royal
Hospital Chelsea and quite a lot of time and energy is being spent
in doing a handover. There are many of these types of emails going
out.
The two pensioners involved, David Poultney and George White,
seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed themselves although, I have
to say, they were tired on their return. They have discovered
that they work well together and seem to be putting their names
down for other events.
Between them, they collected £949.10 which I think was good
going. The Beaulieu Show which took place this last weekend, raised
a little less over three days (£858) but the weather was
not good. If they can continue to do well like this, we may raise
a considerable amount of money at these MVT events!
Again, very many thanks for making all this possible!
Kind regards.
Bashiera”
